Alternate Versions

A fun fact about this album is that the entire first side was recorded live at John and Kevin's house. Andrew had uploaded it to YouTube at one point - I tried finding the video - but no luck. If you find it, let me know!

I think this is the version we recorded on Kevin's Tascam...

The Artwork

The artwork for Winter Pattern is low key sort of epic. John Latvis, my cousin and bandmate, sourced it from his grandmother's attic. Her brother (Dexter Baumgartner) was a photographer in what I would venture to guess was the 1940s or 50s. Maybe even earlier. I remember going throughthe stack of photos with John. There were probably 10 or 20, and a handful of them stood out, but this one really popped. And Dexter had written "Winter Pattern" underneath the photo. Destiny!

The part that really gives me goosebumps looking back, is how we had hung on to another photograph of his during our time as Something//Something. It's the photograph that we used for the cover of Cycles, our final album.

When John and I started Something//Something, we had no idea what we were doing. The name itself is pretty random and vague, but the slashes were intended to give it a little edge, and also represent the two of us. So when you look at the artwork of Cycles, just think about that.
